A civilisation of producers was turned into a population of applicants. Not by accident. By policy. The carpenter knew geometry without textbooks. The mason read load, stress, stone grain. The potter mastered chemistry before the word existed. They created wealth. Controlled process. Trained successors. Functionally — Vaishya. Then came "education." British policy didn't ask: Who produces value? It asked: Who will obey instructions? Guild knowledge became illiteracy. Hands-on intelligence became primitive. Apprenticeship was erased. Not knowing materials — knowing files. Not building systems — serving them. The skilled were de-skilled. Creators became clerks-in-waiting. Artisans who owned production became labour without control. By function — not birth — that is the Shudra role. This wasn't social reform. It was economic demotion disguised as schooling.
